Liège 1905

The Universal Exhibition revived

In 1905, Liège hosted the Universal and International Exhibition for the 75th anniversary of Belgian independence. Monumental palaces, ephemeral architecture and crowds in their Sunday best: for a few months, the Cité ardente kept time with the world.

From reworked period postcards, I bring back to life these now-vanished settings: the Art Nouveau porches, the statues, the grand avenues and the bustle of a summer in 1905. A contemporary interpretation, between memory and reverie.

In the press

The images on this page are visual reconstructions inspired by postcards of the 1905 Liège World’s Fair. They are fictional and are not authentic photographic archives. Their intent is to bring back to life, through a contemporary interpretation, the atmosphere and the memory of an event that has now vanished.
